Bognor Regis – officially the sunniest place in Britain, according to the Met Office – is about an hour and 45 minutes from London Victoria.
With its award-winning beaches, amusement arcades, restaurants and bars, it makes a great spot for a day trip. Or if you’re planning a longer holiday, there’s a Butlins resort offering plenty of family-friendly activities, as well as a relaxing spa.
The station is just a 10-minute walk from the seafront Esplanade. The ticket office is open until 19:45 from Monday to Saturday and until 19:45 on Sunday. Ticket machines are accessible outside these hours. Find out more about facilities at Bognor Regis station.
Things to do in Bognor Regis
Hit the beach
There’s plenty to do besides soaking up the sun on Bognor Regis’ shingle and sand beach, which won a prestigious Seaside Award in 2016.
Try your hand at paddle-boarding and kayaking, or head to the Beach On The Beach, an enclosed area with washed beach sand that’s a great spot for the kids to play.
And as it’s all just a short stroll from the main shopping centre, there are plenty of good shops and cafes nearby too.
Hotham Park
In Hotham Park, which is just over 10 minutes’ walk from the station, you’ll find a whole host of family-friendly activities to keep you and yours busy.
These include a 12-hole crazy golf course and a boating lake. There’s plenty of scenery to admire too – and a great way to see it is to hitch a ride on the park’s miniature railway.
This is also where some of the town’s major events are held, such as the county fair, which offers live music, arts and crafts stalls and games for kids.
